After 153 years of existence Rutland High School has an official Alumni Association! It’s hard to believe there has never been an organization before, but that’s the truth. This new Alumni Association fittingly was born out of necessity when a group of local businessmen took it upon themselves to privately raise $700,000 to install synthetic turf on Alumni field. You can visit various links for all the information about the initiative. At the time of this writing, mid July 2008, the field is 90% complete and will be ready for the ribbon cutting ceremony and the first game, Friday night, August 29th. Remember now, this is officially Alumni Field, the field named for the Alumni of Rutland High School and the Home of the Raiders. Not a bad undertaking for the first piece of business from your Alumni Association!!! Near the end of the fundraising campaign it became evident that an actual entity was needed to sign contracts. It was decided that the proposed Alumni Association would be the best avenue and lawyers drew up the Articles of Incorporation and here we are: Rutland High School Alumni and Friends Association Inc. All our energies for the last 18 months have gone towards fundraising and now that this is complete we will turn our attention to the Alumni Association. This web site is the work of David K Morgan RHS ’77 at Got2Web,LLC, and is in its infancy stages but our hope is to have it fully functional with updates from Mary Moran our Superintendent as well as Mike Norman our Athletic Director. We desperately need several things: one, your input as to how you would like to have your alumni association function for you, and secondly and very important, E-MAIL ADDRESSES. Please look in your computers address book and send to all RHS people our web site, rutlandhighalumni.org and ask them to sign in. The more sign ups we get the more information we will be able to provide. You may feel free to email photos of the past and interesting articles to

. These are very exciting times but most of us who have taken on this initiative are a bit worn out so if you would care to become a part of the inner workings or the board of directors, please let us know. Keep visiting the web site, as there will always be new material. Hey what do you think of a Home coming weekend? Or a group of reunions in 10-year blocks? Take a look at the golf tournament info and put a team together, most of all get involved. Respectfully, Crandy Grant '66 “THREE CHEERS FOR RUTLAND HIGH SCHOOL, LONG MAY SHE STAND” |
